Hi
We are just buying a 2002 Sealine S28 and hubbie is scouring websites for cleaning stuff, polishes, etc as it will need a good scrub and clean-up inside and out and he wants to keep it looking all shiny  .
Would you please share your recommendations with us.

Firstly congratulations on your purchase,  to being permantly skint (there is always something on Ebay the you will 'need')
Secondly as it happens my Mrs cleans boats for a living (for Swancraft at Brundall) and she recommends LIDL spray on foaming spray remover (yes really) on stubburn stains and on normal dirt Tesco car wash and wax, using a soft hand held scrubbing brush.
As a last resort (we had to do this as we had some heavy rubber stains from tyres on our hull) some Feacla (spelling?) G3 compound used sparingly (it;s like T-Cut, but about 5 times as powerful) then use the wash and wax.

We use Ciff on our boat and a good scrubbing brush. Rinse well.

Brick acid, from your local builders merchant, will keep the outside like new. Any oxidisation or lime scale around the waterline will come off and the hull will be like new!

Hylander - where do you use CIF? Hubbie is wondering how abrasive it is. I can imagine using it on the flooring but what about the sides, etc?

I have had a strong recommendation for Acidwash80, which I suspect is similar to the brick acid suggested by JM.
The person concerned was one of our friendly rangers who said that it was the stuff th BA used to keep their launches looking so good.
He gave me a very impressive demonstration, using some he had on his launch. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera available to get a piccie of a ranger swabbing my deck!
I can still picture it though.

Yes Cif (formerly known as Jif) is abrasive and could do much damage so the 'other half' is right to have concerns.

The Stuff I just used on my Topside is great, it's called Cut And Shine got it from my auto-valeters £20 for 5ltrs, yes 5ltrs, removes all the oxidisation and black marks, and leaves a good shine, but it recommends you finish it off with a good quality polish, it's used by a very big boat builders in Portsmouth so it's safe on boats and easy to use by hand,

I always have a bottle of Elbow Grease that I buy for just £1.00 from Brundall Hardware Store. It seems to get almost all the marks off including the fenders.
