What sort of size is the fridge on a Broadland Neptune? Is it similar in size to a house-type larder fridge or more the size of a caravan fridge?

Don't know mate, but i'd hazard a guess at it being a full-size domestic fridge. Had a look at the specs and not only is she fairly modern, but runs the 240v system which i think usually means a proper fridge.

Dan Horner's yer man for all things Richardsons!

This probably needs input from Dan, our Richardsons expert. However it's more likely to be caravan or small domestic size. The more modern boat fridges are electric and reasonably efficient. The older gas types are less efficient, particularly in hot weather.

You shouldn't have any problems but I would suggest don't take massive amounts of fresh food, you can pick it up as you go along.

Well we've regularly hired Cavalier (32'long) - another of Richardsons boats with 24ov, but the fridge is just a smallish one, certainly not domestic size, but a bit bigger than the ones we've had on smaller boats.

Its certainly good advice to buy fresh food as you go along rather than take mountains of stuff from home. There are some good butchers around at the various places you are likely to stop - in the North for example Horning has a great butcher in the main street, next to the post office. Wroxhams is (in our opinion) the one opposite the Broads Hotel, just along from the info centre (cant remember his name but somebody will know it!). They are catering for boatloads of hungry barbequers on a regular basis so offer a good variety of cuts, as well as decent bacon, sausages etc.

Fill the fridge with beer wine and milk, and enough stuff for the first breakfast, thats my advice!

Hi Folks!!

Hmmm, have a built up something of a reputation???! Wink

Well, amazingly I've never been inside Neptune, but I would think it is a gas fridge or non full size electric because Richardsons do tend to advertise the full size fridges in their/Hoseasons brochure specifications.

Have a great holiday, maybe report back the answer, put some internal pictures in the hireboat section...... Smile

Dan
