Sorry but I thought it would be painfully obvious that raw sewage is not allowed to be pumped into any river, broad or indeed Breydon water. The hire company should have been reported as sewage and the blue chemical can damage the Broads delicate ecosystems.

Sorry RC I think AnnV is correct when he says that many sailing boats do discharge directly into the rivers/broads

Indeed I am not sure any sailing vessels on the Broads would have a holding tank - it would not be possible to fit one on a traditional sailing vessel.

Having said that I recall some flotilla boats a few years ago did have a small one to enable you to use the holding tank in harbour and pump it out when you got out into the sea!!!

No holding tank no blue just a hole in the hull beneath the waterline.  You might see some loo paper but that's all and there would not be any smell so I still don't really understand the original posting

Well, as the original poster hasn't come back with any further info, I think there's nothing more to say. Nothing anyone can do without positive evidence.

Regards, Ray.

Yes Raw sewage shouldn't be pumped in the river BUT poo and wee do no harm it's the chemicals that are used for toilet cleaning, shampoo, deodorants, shower gel, condoms, cotton buds etc that do harm hence the grey water tanks that are being fitted, if people chuck the rubbish that they do at home down the toilet is the problem as the French say animals, fish all defecate into water coarses, its the paper etc that harms, hence when you go abroad you are told not to put paper etc down toilets only wee and poo, they dont want the fields littered.John

I’m sure the environmentalists would love these comments, plus the many anglers ,free swimmers and anybody who has contact with the water. As the saying goes you can’t polish a t*rd!

No but a sea toilet breaks it up via the maceration unlike Anglia's who throw it in whole gift wrapped. John
