The statement below from the Broads Authority is still the current situation. There appears to be some confusion about day boat hire from Monday 8th June but as of today the Broads Authority has confirmed there is no official change to this statement. They are in close consultation with Defra and will advise of any changes. "Hire boat industry Whilst we are looking forward to welcoming hire boats back onto the Broads, the Broads Authority is awaiting advice from Defra of the date when the re-opening of hire yards will be permitted within the Government’s guidance. Our current understanding is that the hiring of canoes, kayaks, paddle-boards, powered boats, sailing craft etc. is not yet permitted. Once a date is set by the government for hire yards to start operating, the re-opening of these businesses will be dependant upon the completion of a relevant risk assessment being completed by each hire company to ensure safe business operation. We understand additional measures to ensure the safety of customers are in preparation by the industry and look forward to seeing them. The Broads Authority is continuing to work closely with Defra officials and will publish guidance as soon as it is received."

Hi Certainly looked very quite when we walked down at Wroxham yesterday, though quite a few of those pigeons aren’t socially distancing correctly . John.
Kind regards, John(Captain Joshie), Jo & Toby.

B A have issued a statement saying that they are fully aware of Barnes Brinkcraft claim on social media and it is Catagorically Untrue. They have not been given approval from Defra or B A and they are in contact with them.

Here is the statement on the BA website: "In light of a number of posts by boatyards on social media, the Broads Authority would like to clarify the current position regarding vessel hire on the Broads. The Authority is keen to facilitate a return to boat hire on the Broads for the benefit of businesses and the public. Whilst legislation has been passed which allows the future hiring of boats, the conditions under which this can be done have not yet been released. We anticipate that there will be an announcement early next week (from 8 June) from the Government. The Broads Authority urges boating companies to wait for this announcement before taking any bookings so they can be sure that the conditions can be met to ensure the safety of staff and the public. No permission has been granted by Defra (or the Authority) for boat hiring to resume at this moment in time. The Broads Authority will communicate any further advice from Defra as soon as it is received. In the meantime, companies need to prepare for re-opening by preparing an operational plan to ensure social distancing and high standards of cleaning are in place, as well as the usual requirements for boat safety certificates, tolls and insurance for their vessels."
