Hi

Hiring Bittern from whispering reeds in Hickling for a couple of days from the 8th June, anyone know the air draft and the chances of getting through potter bridge with her?

I would spend two days of solitary enjoyment above the bridge - lovely! You might even see a real one!
P.S. Just call the yard!

Have spent hundreds of hours above the bridge fishing in my small boat, seen bitterns many times during the winter, magical place. Is my wedding anniversary so we are staying out for a couple of nights, just wondering if the boat will clear the bridge?

I believe my number used to be 01692 670460 Playful Wink

I would be surprised if you could't get below the bridge with Bittern, but it would be an idea to get best times to arrive at the bridge from the pilot.

Had a 42 foot Connoisseur through yesterday, a Hampton Safari and a fwd drive Bounty.

We have booked her in July for two days (snap).   We are counting on getting through the bridge.   John doesn't seem to think a problem unless unexpected high tides or heavy rains.     Could we worse to be stuck the other side of the bridge and not be able to see or experience the wonders of Hickling etc.

Hi, I have hired Bittern 2/3 times including a long
Weekend staying under the Bridge as I see that as her advantage over other boats. Have been under Potter though as I believe that she is the lowest Grp hire boat on the Broads. I think airdraft is a misnomer as people quote so many different numbers for each boat and be quite confusing. There is the actual draft, the draft needed for Potter, the draft quoted by a boatyard and then the bridge height gauges which are something else! To cut a long story short I have been quoted 5ft 9 to 6ft 3 for her but in reality I expect she needs about 6ft for the Bridge, so as long as you avoid high water and weather is not to bad you will get under. I went through on Janet a few weeks back when the boards were showing 5ft 9, I believe they are 2/3 inches out as I think she needs about 6ft.

Have a great time.
Neil
