Hi All,

Im new here. Well I think I was a member 10 years ago when I last visited the broads!!

Quick question, I have hired Carousel from Richardsons in 2 weeks time and am very pleased with my choice based on the reviews on here. I am wondering however, if it will fit under Wroxham bridge, the height stated 6ft 9inch and bridge height states 7ft. However, looking on the webcams it looks lower than this. Is it worth planning going under the bridge to cotishall or not even contemplating it and just making other plans. Main reasons to go under the bridge, we have never been that far up the river and also we have friends in Colitshall we wish to visit,
Any guidance much appreciated.

Joel

Welcome to the forum. I would say a least go and have a look. You will have to use the pilot anyway if he says yes then there you go if not moor in one of the hire yards in Wroxham.

We hired Broadsman last autumn and it went under Wroxham bridge, no problem.
Carousel is very similar to Broadsman but with fewer cabins so, unless there is an exceptionally high water level, you will have no difficulty.

Thank you both for your replies. Yes I think Boardman is the same so fingers crossed. Water levels look pretty normal so unless large amounts of rain (which was reason we couldn't go under 10 years ago in floods) then should be good.thanks again.

Hi - we went under yesterday and it was 7' plus - but i think you have to use the pilot now on hire boats as already said so should be ok!

We were there last week and our boa was 6ft 9 and we went under the bridge with no problem. give the pilot a ring before you plan to go through and he will tell you if your boat will go through. I my opinion the upper part of the river beyond Wroxham was the nicest part of our trip, very quiet just going slowly up the river. No problem with mooring at Coltishall

Thanks Joel
