Got a call today to say the boat (Quartz Emblem) that my wife and I were due to spend a week on starting this Friday April 25 has been badly damaged and likely to take a couple of weeks to repair. Absolutely gutted. We were offered alternative boats of which two looked superb but they were unsuitable as my wife doesn’t feel confident getting on and off boats that have the low boarding platforms at the stern. These seem to be typical with modern boats and I find them fine but the boss is having none of it. I have now cancelled the booking and hired Pacific Diamond from Pacific Cruisers based in Loddon. As we were originally leaving from Horning we will now have to change our itinerary somewhat. Anyone hired this boat and if so what did you think of her? I normally hire bath tubs and liked the idea of being able to see behind for reversing. Can you see behind on Pacific Diamond? I think “BobtheBoater” was due to be on this boat during Easter so if he doesn’t see this post maybe I’ll send him a P.M.
Kind Regards Alan... www.mynorfolkbroadsboating.co.uk/

Loddon, great base to hire from. Make the best of it, visit Beccles, Surlingham Ferry, Reedham Ferry, Geldeston Locks, Waveney River Centre, St Olaves and Berney Arms. Enjoy your visit down South.
Yacht 'Jenny Morgan' The Broads is a member of the National Parks family, it is NOT a National Park though. Worth a read: http://www.thegreenbook.org.uk

Diamond 35@s are certainly comfortable boats but they do have one quirk and that is that the helm is roughly in the middle. You can see straight through to the back but much easier is to stand up at the helm and stick your head out of the port (left) sliding top - unless you are very vertically challenged!! You will see what I mean when you get on board!!! You then get your other half to stand on the back end with the rope and she (he? ) will make a perfect marker!! No problem at all and easy to do!! Have a good holiday and enjoy the boat - you will!!!!

Steve & Maggie. Magellan (Westward 38) Not quite an ancient mariner ..... though some say he was at sea before Pontius was a pilate !

Also moored at OB Yacht Station (if I'm not mistaken) is Broadland Orian, a Brooms Skipper which we often hire. Back on her late July for two weeks

First off pacific themselves. Richard and fiona are fantastic and great people and so welcoming. After visiting most of the broads yards pacific is where I head too. I cannot fault them in any way. Diamond is a stunning boat gets lots of positive comments off other boaters. She looks a fab. Inside its home from home. Very comfortable indeed lovely open plan layout massive space for a boat. Full size hob electric ignition on oven and hob. Immersion heater on shore power. Sockets in all rooms. Great size living space. Front and back toilets / showers plenty of room both bedrooms really comfy. Drives really well very responsive on steering. Split sliding roof great in the nice weather. Good visability. The central driving position you soon realise its no issue as for reversing flick the roof back head out great vision or just look down through the boat. Mooring is a breeze with the bow thruster. Diamond is a diamond. Ive already booked it again, its now my favourite pacific boat. Ive had the privilege of having it on a maiden voyage and its been an absolute joy. And no not us at oulton im afraid...
