O2 seems to be very hit and miss! I was up for a few days last week and it was miss more often than not!

I believe its Delight 2 I have hired.   Although on the site it simply says Delight.

What sort of speed out if interest wi'll the boat do in knots.  I know there are speed limits etc but just was unsure how fast the broads boats will do flat out?  Certainly slower than the 30knots I'm used to in a clipper on the Thames Smile  but Thats exactly why I cannot wait.  To Relax!

Speed limits are marked in MPH and are mostly 5mph and 6mph which is the highest.  Some stretches of river may be 3 or 4 mph.  The only place that I believe has no speed limit is Breydon Water.  Depending on how governed the boat is and if the current is with you maybe up to 9mph but that is a very rough estimate.

Kind Regards
Alan...

How do you tell how fast you are going? Assuming no GPS speedo haha

Short answer - you can't! Use a gps app on your phone, if you can, but a rule of thumb is to look at the bank and gauge whether you could stride out at that speed, it's about 4mph. Running with or against the tide will have a significant effect on your over-the-ground speed, much more so than your Clippers would notice, so be aware of that.

Ben hi,

I believe some of the latest boats do indeed have some form of GPS speedo but this is far from the norm.
Normally it's by rev counter.  There is a normally a plaque stating the revs for traveling 4,and 6 MPH.  This is obviously only a rough guide as Im sure you are aware the direction and strength of the current will have a dramatic affect on the speed.

I agree with Regulo.  You can judge better by looking at the bank.

I also keep a good eye on the wash the boat is giving off and keep it to a minimum especially when passing moored boats.

Kind Regards
Alan...
