Hi all

Need advise on the company as a whole. Has anyone used them before?

Two boats I'm looking at for 2 of us (I know they can hold more people but there's only 4 boats I can afford at that time and these two are the best)

Delight and northern light.    Which is nicer and better suited.

Is the area around Herbert Woods a good place for first time broaders to start and how far can we explore in a week and get back again?

Hi there with either of those boats you can cover all the north broads comfortably in a week.Of the two, my choice would be Delight. I am leaving from HW later this month on Gleaming Light. Its a long established boatyard with approx 150 boats. No matter who you pick I am sure you will enjoy the SLOW pace of the Broads. Get booked up! Wink

Thank you for the reply

Have you used HW before.   How did you go about booking? Was it online through the website I assume

Are there any hidden extras or tips you can give me for going in late May? Where are good places to stop etc

Ben hi and welcome,

I hired Shimmering Light from Herbert Woods last year.  Good boatyard no problems.
I booked direct through their website.

Kind Regards
Alan...

Sorry for delay in replying, yes I have used this yard before. Also what you see is what you pay, unless you use more diesel than deposited for. Hope that helps you.

My choice would be Northern Light, with just the 2 of you, you can both sit together at the same level with the seating directly behind the helm.
From the description it has 240v power and also a 12v lighter socket as you'd find in a car so phone charging would not be a problem.
As far as phone signal goes I'm not sure any supplier gets 100% coverage over the broads but don't rely on 3G that's for sure.

Ben hi, herby woods are in my experience are good, nothing outstanding but good they do what they say on the tin. Yard is vastly improved boats clean and tidy.

I  would go delight personally,  it should have a 12v cigarette socket possibly near the dash panel, same as a car should just plug a 12v charger in.

3g on the broads is hit miss and keep patient as you will notice alot of signal strength variation. Ive got a 3g dongle on 3 that works most areas but not everywhere. My mobile 3g on my phone EE is similar so its trial and error.

Enjoy
