Hi all and a Happy New Year.
My wife and I are thinking of hiring Broadland Lass or Amber Gem in September, (from Richardsons). Has anyone here had experience of either of these? Can anybody recommend other boats, 4 birth, for 2 people? We particularly like this style of boat as the forward well allows for fishing while moored stern on, (if that's the correct terminology).
New Horizons website does not show boat interiors at the moment, nor a 2006 price guide.

ps, breadflake is my prefered bait for bream fishing.

Bill.

Humber bridge from Bridge craft is 4 berth a fixed double in the back with eunsuite (can remember how to spell that) it also has a bath it has a well in the front and independently sliding roof you can see what the sister of it looks like on www.KrisCruisers.co.uk it's called Lady Louise. Sorry don't know anything about the richardsons boat.

Hi Bill

welcome to the site

If you look on the Hoseasons website and get to Richardsons page... through clicking on an available boat from them (through availability search etc) then clicking 'boatyard details' you can bring up the whole 2006 fleet.. and there is an interior picture of a Broadland Lass that is fairly accurate, although I think the upholstery is now changed to their standard one colour (with dots!) design like the other pics show!

If you look on this site under the 'hireboat info' button at the bottom of the page if you go to Magic Gem's page there is an interior picture I took last June, and these are very similar in standard and the same design style as Amber Gem - so would give you a good idea. If you do hire one you can add your own interior pics to this area of the site if you wanted.. and then this could help someone with the same interest next time.

My experience with this fleet and these two craft is that they are quite long in the tooth, but are nicely maintained, comfortable and well presented bearing in mind their hire charge, but as you've probably gathered they are not the latest, or top luxury boats... but I've always been quite happy with similar boats from them, and I can appreciate that the sunken well at the front is more suited to your requirements than the newer moulds Smile

All the best

Dan

Hi Bill,

my parents have hired the gems and were very happy with it. I would concur with Dan's comments, but it all depends what you want. They found them more than adequate, reasonable value and, (although I have no personal knowledge) they have always been happy with the overal service from Richardsons.

As more mature Broads users, they found these boats quite easy to get on and off... that's quite important for some!
