Going up up up

Nine to go and we are pulling away,ok I know it’s only a small gap but I’m going to enjoy this whilst it lasts.
Own up, be honest who would rather there team be where Norwich are today rather than where they are?

i must say your looking good for 2nd at the moment and seem to regularly score late goals but you should be a little wary of what happened to swansea when they hit 2nd spot. Wink

Now you’ve gone and spoilt it, I just can’t see the point in cricket.
Now if you had said motorcycle racing that would be different.

This league is going to the wire, any of the top ten could still make playoffs or the second spot.
Come on you yellows.

Tut, tut, tut...  Smile
People from Leeds do not always get it wrong.
I am a totally convinced atheist. But if there was a God, inventing Cricket would have been his activity on the seventh day... (he may even have had time to invent Rugby Union also).
As a general sports fan I follow Football too.

But Motorcycle racing...
In my view anything that has an engine involved or any other variable that can allow the second best to consistently win, struggles to meet the criteria of the word "sport".
Surely sport should be about the skill, fitness, mental strength etc of the players rather than their equipment.
I accept that this is not a universally held view but no one has ever given me an convincing argument against it.
Each to their own I guess.

The money over skill argument it does happen no denying when you can afford the best it's a definite advantage.
Now if any one has ever heard of Andy Burton (rally driver) you will see where this goes, Andy built his own rally car a very special peugeut 306 with a silly engine (sorry but memory has blanked) Andy won lots of races with this car and beat many works cars, they protested that his car does not confirm to holomagation i.e not in any partciular group so his car is going to have to stop and all becuase he can beat the money men, British rallying used to great at this but it now is becoming very expensive and why historic rallying is gaining in popularity.

Norwich as a team could be classed as second best and still we constantly win
.
As for other peoples sport I learned a long time ago not to enter into the, this sport is better than that sport argument.

I only mentioned cricket as there are so many yorkies on here.

I fell in love with bike racing when I was fourteen, a love affair that Has gone from strength to strength.
I like football but it will always be my second choice sport.
I understand the engine over muscles point but all I will say is try it and see how fit you need to be to compete.
And yes I have done it, to old now takes too long to mend these days.

Now back to the footy, COME ON You Yellows- six nil- QPR were coming for you.
Even when Leeds get a good result Norwich over shadow them.

As I keep saying going up up up.

Years ago I read an article (The Times if my memory serves me well) in which the writer stated his view that;
1. A True Sport is played by athletes,  either with a ball or it's variants, or is an unaided race, throw or leap.  (football, athletics, hockey etc).
2. A Sporting activity is any event that involves anything mechanical who's variables can impact on the result. But REQUIRES athletic prowess (F1, cycling, Sailing etc)
3. A Game is anything that anyone could possible win regardless of their physical status. (Snooker, darts, chess etc).

That may not be wholly fair but it probably does have at least some merit.

Difficult to argue with.
I wonder how the organisers of the Olympics feel about some of their sports falling into the sporting activity bracket.
As for motorcycle racing I will still love it whatever category it falls into.

i like most sports and often support the underdog, i prefer most sports that have an engine and then footie and rugby, cricket but in no particular order, like the banter what goes with it and i think thats where we are on here lots of good natured banter, well done mods for letting it run.

Never mind about the Olympic organisers... what about the British Olympic committee.
We pretty much only win medals in cycling and sailing Smile
