This pub once stood on the Bure near St Benet's Abbey. You can still make out the spot if you look for it. It catered for wherrymen and passing boat trade. There was no road to it other than the track from Ludham. One day, it burned down.
Why do messages sometimes come out twice? this one said 'hot' like the one before so I edited it. perhaps we could be given the option of deleting our own messages, that might help

Hi Nigel, I must confess about the name of the wherrymans pub at St.Bennets, we were at a party a few days before you posted your question and was talking to John Atkins and it came up in conversation and he said that he used to raft across the dyke on a gate when he was a youngster, Robin.
