Just another thought we sometimes go to Coltishall but have always stopped before the Pubs. Can you get further past the Pubs and if so what's the fishing like in that area please as i have to say we have never had much success in that area for Bream at night or for that matter smaller fish in the day. It always seems very weedy to the point of unfishable in the middle of the river ?

Its not helped by the clear water, as if you do hook even the smaller ones, it is fairly common for pike to come and nick them!!! Not sure if there are big bream up there - they seem to appreciate the turgid water and mud!!!!

I have caught bream although only a pound or two at the horstead mill junction which is just before Coltishall lock. I can verify The pike story from my own experience. Twice on the same day in the stretch just after the pubs. The water is crystal clear and weedy, not really suitable for bream. Good luck Graham

Hi Graham So you can actually go past the pubs at Coltishall as we've only ever gone as far as the pubs because we thought that was as far as it went !! but i saw a video on Youtube that indicated you could get to a lock which we have never seen before and it looked quite nice for fishing ?

I think there is still a sign just beyond the Rising Sun, requesting that hire boats do not venture up there. And if you take the wrong arm, you will soon remember why!!!

No the sign gas gone and all the naps show Coltishall lock as the end of navigation . The arm being talked about is at horstead mill. Keep right and you will be OK. It is the most beautiful stretch of water. Seen more kingfishers there than anywhere else... But it can be very weedy so you must check your weed filter regularly and go into reverse to unravel weed from the propellor. Great fish but b difficult conditions... . Good luck Graham
