I am taking a friend on the Broads for his first ever Boating Holiday ... Now I know most Anglers don't like boaters but we are very keen anglers and just need a little help in where to fish on Barton Broad. Having a hire cruiser for the week we can access most of the Broad ....but we just need a general 'nod' as to one or two good Bream spots.
There's nothing worse than taking a friend on his first outing and blanking is there?
Is the Boat channel heading from the river Ant towards Neatishead worth a try as I gather from reading other blogs it was but most blogs are years old.
Any info would be gratefully received....

Hi. just as your entering the Broad from Irstead you will see on the left hand side 2 trees that you can tie up to, this is a great place to moor for the night and to fish.

Ran a fish finder around the broad a few weeks ago and can confirm at that time the mouth of the Ant where it enters the broad was thick with fish, there is also a good depth of water there.

"Now I know most Anglers don't like boaters..."

That's a very sweeping statement. A lot of boaters are also anglers, and a lot of anglers fish from boats. As a non-angling boater, I have never met with any antipathy towards me from an angler, nor have I ever encountered an angler who was unwilling to move to allow me to moor.

Let's not seek to create division where there is none, please.  Smile

Thanks for that .... I know where you mean and I guess it is a good spot as whenever I've passed by there was always a boat moored there ....

Thanks for that info ... I know it's a big ask but is the Broad just to the right as you enter from the Ant any good as some years ago I noticed some old dilapidated wooden fishing  pegs along the weeds before the island.
And would the newly dredged boat lane be good at night when it's quiet?
