Does anyone know if you can fish Langley Dyke?
we looked yesterday and could not see any signs saying no fishing.
we have looked at various posts which are a few years old.
It has changed since we last visited as there are now Free B.A moorings and there were a couple of people fishing.
we are just looking for a nice peaceful location off the main river

Hi, knowsitall ...

Not wishing to scupper your plans for some relaxing fishing but, when I was last there a month ago, I seem to recall the BA signage said "No Fishing" as opposed to "Anglers are welcome but must make way for boats seeking to moor". However we did see folks fishing further down from the BA mooring itself. Maybe a more recent visitor might be able to confirm one way or t'other ?

It's certainly a lovely, peaceful location in which to unwind. Enjoy ...  Smile

Not quite an ancient mariner ..... though some say he was at sea before Pontius was a pilate !

I was there last week but for the life of me can't remember what the signs say! However, the end of the dyke on the main river is very popular with fishermen and there are many fishing spots along the Yare in that area served by a well worn footpath. Not exactly a secluded quiet spot though!

Be bold - just have a dangle anywhere down the dyke! I doubt you will harm fish stocks by overfishing!!

I have been in contact with B.A and was informed that  fishing is not allowed at Langley Dyke due to a condition stipulated by the land owner and is a condition of the lease with the Broads Authority.

Kind Regards

Is fishing from your boat covered by this edict?? In some places this is a case of the landowner not owning the actual river bed! Might have to mud weight rather than tie to mooring pegs.

Hi VetChugger.

Good question. Yes you are allowed to fish from your boat whilst moored at the 24hr moorings but as usual you must allow space for other boats wishing to moor.

Confirmed by B.A Cheers

Kind Regards
