Had a few days afloat last week and spoke to a few anglers that had been asked to show their license.
About time if you ask me, if you haven't got one you best get one, they are having a purge I have been told, I can't remember the last time I was asked to produce mine, this can't be a good thing as people won't bother if they think they will get away with it..  you have been warned.

A fishing licence is not particularly expensive if used on a regular basis. However, a magistrate friend informs me that the average fine at a particular broadland court for no licence is about £400, including costs.
The magistrates may also order any tackle to be forfeit, now that could be really expensive.

Can anyone tell me where I can a licence from please, we are off to the broads on the 21st and both my kids will be fishing at some point. I take it that even though the kids are free we still need to actually have a licence to show if asked as well.

Thanks

Ben

You now have to actually go to the PO.

Easiest by far is

I take it that's a typo Marshy, you don't have to go to the P.O. you can buy on line, take down the licence number if you want to fish straight away and they post out the licence which you normally receive next day.

Hi Terry,

I'm afraid that has very recently changed. The Post Office no longer sells rod fishing licences online but you can still purchase from your local Post Office branch.

You can still order on line through the Government  website using the link that Marshman has provided or order by telephone calling the Environment Agency fishing licence service on 0344 800 5386

Good news for youngsters as an annual junior licence for 12 to 16 year olds is now free of charge.  Smile

Kind Regards
Alan...
