My grandad stepdad and I just got back from a rather pleasurable fishing trip on the broads, however while moored up at st Bennett's Abby a large amount of day boats and hire boats came so close to our vessel we could climb aboard and drive there boat for them. As hard as we tried to sink our line we all lost some expensive gear at least once!
Sorry to hear you had a few problems during your visit.
Dayboats and hireboats do get very close to the bank sometimes as they are often driven by people with little or no experience. This can be made worse if there are a lot of yachts tacking across the river. Panic can ensue. It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid.
Thankyou for the welcome but it was only three boats that cut us off. Although it was a mere 3 set-ups it still is a fair amount of money and I might take this kind fellows advice :D haha. (Don't worry I wouldn't do that)
sorry about tackle loss, but it is common for boats to come close in around bennets, Don,t they look!! had a new keepnet crushed one year and i was fishig off bank.I had a catapult and maggots spare that day boats cannot steer straight when trying to find maggots that fall from the sky like gifts from god. hope that you have not been put off at all.
