Hi
We are going on the Upper Broads in a week and a halfs time and my Son would like to catch a pike.
We mainly use lures and it may be better if he catches a small one first.
Can anyone tell me where we are most likely to catch one and using what method.
Thanks.
Steve

Hi Steve, most of the broads are full of pike of various sizes, particularly Jack pike, large pike are not that easy to catch but it is possile he may catch one first time out. All the usual methods work, but does he or you know how to handle them once on the bank, these creatures have seven hundred teeth, no problem if you know how, you require, forceps long nosed plies, small bolt croppers (for cutting the barb off if the hook goes in your hand)Glove, unhooking mat, etc. Im not trying to put you off but if you cant deal with a pike properly on the bank you will have pretty quickley a dead pike. Can I point you in he direction of the PAC (Pike Anglers Club) their web site is full of informaion on how to catch and handle pike. Hope your boy catches and I hope he sticks with pike fishing, but we need to protect our quarry.
