Royalls have a new website. They're still updating it but it looks good so far. http://www.royallsboatyard.com/

Hi Folks Whilst not wanting to be negative about a company that is undoubtedly doing a very decent job I can't see an improvement from the other one yet - though I appreciate it's not totally sorted yet. I would imagine that as a result the same picture being used for Commanmder 1 & 2 and the 3 different Velvet's is a stop gap. All of these craft are quite different to one another - so I would hope the point of showing them individually is to show the external differences as well as the different layouts, though as it stands right now the exteriors of Commander 1, Velvet 1 & 3 are quite different to what you would get when you turned up, though admittedly not a million miles off, so maybe not so many people would notice or have issue here. Also, I would hope more internal pictures are to follow. As of yet though, whilst I can see the order of things has been re-jigged the presentation, even font style/colour etc all looks the same? Am I missing something or is it no improvement at all so far - looks to me same thing in a different set-out, and I can't see the point of that at all! Hoping the Royall's regulars may be able to enlighten me Dan http://fbwilds.horning.org.uk

I can see where you're coming from Dan. However, in the context of other boatyard websites I still think it's one of the best. Generally, boatyards ain't that great at making informative websites that get updated properly. Maybe I'm biased because I can't wait for my Royall's boat in August & I just love the webcam!

Would be an improvement if the web cam worked better too. A view over the river might have been a good idea.

Using one phot for a number of similar looking boats is not only a Royalls trick. Hebert Woods use the same pic for all their Horizon 35's in the Blakes brochure and the NB Direct website!

Hi taylorgang Indeed, that was what I was trying to say - in seperating eaxh boat in the class out seperately (rather than just saying Royal Velvet class for example) the benefit & point of doing so seemed to be being lost. It also meant the difference/advantage that they seemed to have identified quite well to make their individual family company with attention to detail over the big groups had been started, but not finished. In general many of the Blakes pictures are old, unclear and not updated as boats change hands etc. They seem happier to use old pictures and digitally add names in/rubb them out. I've noticed the Norfolk Broads Direct catalogue slightly better for this, but not much. Fortunately Hoseasons are much better on this score, but it doesn't seem Blakes care much in putting it right - been the same for years! I agree with you Simon, even as it is it is a very nice site, I hope they do continue to build on it, it puts others, including some of my favourite companies to shame! All the best Dan

has anyone else looked at the webcam for Royall's recently. It appears to be taken in the dark just looked again and a very dark picture indeed.
