We have been setting up an RYA Diesel Engine here at IBTC Lowestoft and I wanted to ask if anyone would be interested. Here is the syllabus:

A one-day beginners’ course to help you prevent and solve diesel engine failure.
Mechanical failure is the main cause of rescue call-outs to cruisers. Basic maintenance and engine care will help ensure that you are not part of this statistic.
Most engine problems can be avoided by taking simple precautions, and you don’t need a detailed mechanical knowledge.
This course teaches you how your engine works, how to keep it healthy by using basic checks and maintenance procedures, and how to get it started again in the event of a breakdown.
Whether you sail a yacht with an auxiliary diesel engine or are a motor cruising enthusiast, this course could not just save you money, but one day could save your life.
Course topics include:
the principles of diesel engine operation
the systems and parts of the engine
fault finding
rectification of common problems
bleeding the fuel system
changing the impeller
routine maintenance
winter lay up procedures

If you would like more information or would be interested in taking part please do get in touch. Dates are to be confirmed but we are looking at early september or late september. It is a one day course but we could also break it up over a few evenings .

Please send me an email jstevens@ibtc.co.uk if you are interested or visit www.shipshapeeastanglia.co.uk for more information and upcoming courses. jstevens@ibtc.co.uk

We had a successful first course and some good feed back from our students. We are now looking at running the next course in and around December. Our course is unique in the fact that it is based around a live engine and some classroom work. The live engine even caught our instructors our this time! If would be interested in doing the course in December or any other time then please get in touch with IBTC Lowestoft on 01502 569 663 or jstevens@ibtc.co.uk

Thoroughly enjoyed the day course. Looking forward to a breakdown now to see if I was paying attention.:-)
Would recommend to anyone who doesn't know their way round an engine

Looked today but couldn't find stand E120.....one gets so used to using the satnav, when it isn't available it's so easy to get lost!
