Next time you are in the Potter Heigham area, you might like to try this walk. It will get you off that boat and out and about for a while. I have seen some fantastic wildlife on this walk over the years perhaps you will do the same.
Start at Herbert Woods and walk over the footbridge and behind the bungalows. Follow the footpath until you come to a public footpath on the right. See picture.
The path curves to the left, still following the field boundary. Stay on the path until you come to a public footpath leading into woods on the right. Turn right here. See photo.
Follow this road until you come to the back of the Falgate Pub (refreshment opportunity). Turn right and follow the road back to Lathams and Herbert Woods.
There is an alternative track which you can use to add variety to the walk or as a short cut. This leads from the main road at the end of Lathams Car Park and goes behind Herbert Woods away from the river. I have no idea why it has a 5 mph sign.
Thanks Nigel, what a good idea. I've seen walks as dotted lines on a map but you don't get a 'feel' for the walk as you do when you can actually see the pictures. It really whets your appetite to go and do it. Also such walks are not obvious from the rivers and having a local guide is a real bonus.
Like the refreshment opportunity as well
