This is probably my third favourite bird.

First has to be -
Dolly Parton
then Kingfisher
Closely followed by the Heron

One thing i have noticed is that our lovely shiny headed mallards are slowly being overtaken by inter-breeding and we are ending up with quite a few drab looking 'heinz57' chicks  Gasp

I think I read somewhere it was because a drab coloured breed of duck mainly bred commercially for its meat has become naturalised after a few escaped captivity, and they are now crossing with the mallards  Scared

Hi Dave

This Kingfisher was on the Ant just up stream from How Hill.

If you want to see Kingfishers then I would duggest a slow trip from Wroxham to Coltishall.

I was on that streatch a few weeks ago and spotted five within that stretch of river.

Look into the bushes at about 1 meter off the river is a good starting point.
