What? I asked if it was against the rules, I did not know if posting a link to a fund raiser was against the rules, so I asked the question and instead of an answer to the question the post was just deleted. I did not know the answer, otherwise I would not of asked the question.

But now (and I am laughing saying this) why was the question deleted? it seems a very odd thing to do, deleting a question.

Bit curt at the end there. So I was breaching the TOS asking that question as I should have already known the answer? and as a result of that even the question gets deleted...well sorry I did not read that in the TOS, and there I may be at fault. but this could have been dealt with very simply with a reply, rather than deleting a post that just posed a question. alan

Well I guess it's fair to say that if your post has gone, the answer was obvious - that the subject was deemed inappropriate. That's part of the TOS. We saw your post this morning and between the mod team ( all just people giving their free time in amongst the rest of their day ) we discuss and agree. If an amendment to a post is all thats required, we may contact the member first, but we do reserve the right to take whatever action we, or Richard, the site owner , feel necessary. Please don't be offended that we didn't get chance to write you a personal message - perhaps it was assumed that as you'd actually asked if it was ok or not , you would accept that a deletion meant it wasn't. We do try our best on this forum to allow as much as possible , and I hope you'll agree that we have allowed your difficult situation to be aired and members have given lots of advice. Karen

Yes I understand perfectly. But no I did not guess that the deletion of my post (question) was to be taken as an answer to the question. On my part I should have read the TOS in detail And I thank you for 'allowing' me to air our experience with buying a boat. alan

Mmmmmm I know the mods do a very good job and normally I think they get it right, on this occasion I feel they re acted badly, had the OP put on a link to a funding site that would have been against the TOS, asking if he could should have warranted a reply. The TOS mentions not posting any revenue generating link, he didn't, the area around that term seems to be applied on a case to case basis (I've seen many members selling items on here including boats) this member took the time to post a question asking for clarity and was met with a deletion then a rather terse reaction from the Mod team when he questioned that. 3/10, could do better!
if it is to be it is up to me.

Nothing wrong with terse ("...the word terse itself doesn't mean unfriendly or rude. Synonyms are succinct or concise...") The post was deleted by 'someone' and an apology was given that the OP wasn't given a private message of explanation. As the question was one that only Richard or, possibly, a moderator could give an authorative answer to, it would have been better if the OP had used the messaging system, rather than advertising the crowd-funding page in such a contrived way - breaking the ToS without breaking the ToS, if you see what I mean.

Thank you Paladine, for clarity the decision taken was a unanimous one from the top down. Brian
