Is the Forum creeping back to how it used to be?
To me I read into some posts that Mod power is being incorporated into personal posts.
Moding and personal posts should be two separate issues and Kept separate.
That’s my opinion.

Hi Steve,
bitterncloud April 28th 11.56am
Post by the above giving  his comments about members moaning.
As a Member I cannot see any breaking of TOS rules.
As a Mod can you see any issues?

April 28th 5.39pm
Response from Member/Mod.
“Having a different view does not necessarily make a person a moaner,”

Then in the same post he/she is given a warning for moaning.

Looks a bit personal to me, Mod/ Member issues should be kept separate.

Is there now a new TOS rule banning moaning?
If so that will cut the posts on here by half.

I totally agree that moderators are perfectly entitled to have, and express, their personal opinions, and they have a role to play (on Richard's behalf) in ensuring the ToS are complied with. It should be clear which is which.

If someone has strongly-held views on a subject, and expresses them strongly, it is open to all members strongly to express a counter-view, if that is their wont. But, please, stick to the argument/discussion, without personal attacks or labelling. We've seen it before, it ended in tears, with some members being barred. I don't want to see that, or them, back again.

The moderation wasn't against moaning, BTW, it was against the derogatory labelling of members that that particular member used..."please quit the moaning label that you love to throw in." ToS?

"..for the avoidance of any doubt, the broads are not legally a national park and do not come under the national park legislation, and nor will they."

Mod Hat firmly off, kicked into the corner - posting 100% as a member and to hell with it.

quote:"......
Is there now a new TOS rule banning moaning?

......."

And if we create a new TOS rule to ban misogynist, petty, snipping little trolls with nothing of merit about them we could cull the deadwood non-contributory membership by a healthy amount too.

Be careful what you wish for.

Far too often the views or opinions of members who are trying to debate matters on here are derailed by a twisted misrepresentation or purposeful repositioning of the facts in order to validate and portray an attacking post as some insightful, kinder received wisdom. Well, guess what? It doesn't work it just upsets people.

A quick look at some of the members who are so horrified  that they felt the need to raise the question of 'Mod Power' in this thread will quickly reveal that the vast majority of their tiny contribution consists of snipping or veiled attacks. They provide nothing of substance to add to the pool of knowledge. no insightful analysis, no tongue in cheek debate!

Posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic posts with the intent of provoking members into displaying emotional responses and normalizing tangential discussion isn't clever or useful or needed - it's wasteful and pathetic.

If you want to be a contributing member then pick a subject, start a post and get a thread running on a subject that you can bring something tangible to. Otherwise move on and stop riding the backs of people who do have a strong opinion or position because you 'can't agree' or you 'fail to understand'. That isn't a license to have a go at people individually or tag them collectively (EG moaners).

For all those members on here that this is going to rile up - good - not nice to be targeted is it?
Why not think about what you post before you post. You can be constructive, inflammatory, even divisive - just be nice about it. I suggest you all look in the mirror and hope you can see a better person in real life looking back at you because as sure as hell you're a waste of humanity in your forum form.

Oh, and for good measure; coming from a military background, if you ever spoke to me like that in real life i'd knock you into next week.

For those who don't accept the conventional wisdom of the internet which is to 'not feed the trolls' and try to debate with them - consider this, the more you feed them the more s**t they produce.

It's not a case of don't feed them - it's a case of cull them before they breed.

Right - bring it on!!!

Brief response from me as working this afternoon. The forum admin & Richard have up to now always said that mods are members who can express their views under their forum identity, and any comments in a moderator capacity are best noted as such. You will note therefore that I made it clear when my moderator hat was being worn. Further , gents, please try and fully read what I have said before (what comes across as) seizing any opportunity to attack my moderator status and comments - I clearly said my mod comment was with any members being labelled as moaners because of their views.

Thank you Paladine for your ever present attention to detail
and thus correctly noting,  and pointing  out what I had said !

Mike I should hope that with a military background of which I and my family all come from , I should hope that you would not resort to violence even though at times you may feel like it and more than likely be justified for carrying it out.   It gets nobody nowhere.     Deep breaths everybody.
