We reluctantly sold the Broom Viking last week as we have decide that we pefer cruising on the Broads rather than single days out on a little towed boat, anyway...rather than return to our previous rather largish 30 footer we wanted something smaller as there is only the 2 of us now, we have "almost " decided to buy a Viking 20 with a 15hp Honda outboard. After trawling around looking at various "previously loved" examples and having to ignore things, take chances or make compromises we decided that a brand new one might be worth considering, the boat we saw today starts at £16,750 including engine, with extras like cooker, fridge, cassette toilet , hot water , and 240 volts we are up to around £18,900 is this a reasonable price ? we think it might be but would appreciate feedback and opinion. Also if there are any Viking 20 owners out there who could give us the benefit of their experience I would be very grateful; if you were starting again / buying brand new what would you choose what options are nice or necessary ? and would you have a Viking again ?

Better a bad day on the water than a good day in the office.

Hi John,

What a lovely thought; a brand new boat and you're the first to make your mark on it. I've not had a Viking, but my previous boat, a Seamaster 27 was built in what is now the Viking works and the hull of my current boat was built there. Friends of ours had a Viking 20 and absolutely loved it. Were it not for the husbands untimely death, I'm sure they'd still have it to this day. I see you live in Cambs, that's not a million miles from their works at Great Dunmow. Have you thought about paying them a visit?
Best of luck,
