It seems the boat I thought was a broom 30 is not it is registered wit the environment agency as a broom Sancerre 30 1980
The boat looks inside as well as outside identical to a broom 30 right down to the wood used anybody got any information these please I have found out one 2 previous names  jaid and dragonfly XIV THE name now is CICALA the  previous topsides colour was one blue and before that a pinky colour. I understand so far that it was built when changes at broom were happening, it has twin 45 hp mermaid engines in her. I have got a name at marine tech to contact yet  but would like to see if any on this site will have any info

Now this is just a guess and I may be wide of the mark. Bondons, now Russel Marine, built a number of sedan cruisers under the name Sancerre. Could it be that they obtained a bare hull and topsides from Broom, did the fit-out and put the Sancerre name on it? Just a thought.

The man to tell you for sure is Rod Russell at Marine Tech (or possibly Daniel). If that's who you're waiting to hear from, you're on the right track!  Smile . I have to say, looking at the photo's of the Sancerre boats from Bondons on Craigs database, the hull definitely isn't a Broom 30. Yours could have been a one-off, of course.

Regards, Ray.

Whatever happens now, I'm blaming it on Brexit. Everyone else is!

It looks like a Broom 30 to me. My father designed it and my sister owned one for a time. The Sancere is a sedan cruiser with large rear sliding doors if I remember correctly.

As has been said, Bondon"s Sancerre fleet were Sedans with rear access.( I moored there from 1985 to 1994).
I believe Rod Russell did not take over the yard until the  1990's so would not have been involved with their build.
The picture of the craft under and125's post is undoubtedly a Broom hull, but the rest is guesswork unless Brooms themselves could shed some light.
Looks a very nice boat though

Hello Malcolm, I know it is a bit special and it was finished off at Sancerre as it bares there name engraved in the control  panel however twin 45hp mermaids and the steamed trim above the galley to saloon doorway definitely look like Sancerre but the tiger striped furnishing panels definitely broom 30.  Around 1980 when she was built. I was told that broom was ending production of the 30 in fact in and around that time there were very many companies had problem including the bigger ones could it be a part built broom that ray bondon bought and finished it to a special order?? By the way  the boat never had the outside steering when it was built.  And the cabin was pink. Could this have been the one made for your sister?? If so I know I have one very special boat. Best regards. Andy

Hi Steve I thought at first it was a special boat because of the two mermaid 45 hp  engines with Borg warner 71c direct drive boxes that alone makes it very different , and must have been put together by an excellent engineer . Brooms normally used Perkins but did do special orders as well. Being an engineer myself  I love the setup. I have managed to find one of the owners and he gave me plenty of information to start my tracing it’s history. As I do with all my boats. Best regards. Andy
