I just came across this old promo video on YouTube for the Almarine Seafire speedboat from 1972 - some of it is shot on the Broads (The River Yare by the look of it).
Almarine were based in Diss (South Norfolk) ..... there seems to be very little info about them on the internet. I believe that they were a division of Alma Components who manufactured electronic components and were later taken over by Hamlin Electronics who are still based in Diss. I had no idea that they made boats at one time but Kev informs me that they did as my mother-in-law worked at Alma's during the 70's and 80's. I will ask if she remembers much about the boat manufacturing side. It would appear that there are a few of them still around. Does anyone know anything more about Almarine?
I'm not sure if you are still interested in this topic, but my father jointly owned Alma Components and Almarine. If you would like to know anything about Almarine I would be delighted to answer your questions. In the mean time if you hear of an Almarine Seafire for sale in good original condition please let me know, I would be very grateful. You can email me directly at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Check out my innermist channel on You Tube for two new Almarine videos. One of the Seafire press release day, I love that one [below], and one about the Almarine Meteor.
