Thanks very much Gretzky for your reply. I have been given the name of a surveyor [ S Truss Surveyors ] Do you know anything about them or can you put me onto the one that you used. I am going after a Powles42 so I think it may cost a little more to get it done, but as you say it will be worth it in the long run. Thanks again.

Mr Truss did the survey on my wooden boat, and he was thorough.

Actually he also did the BSS assessment for me just recently,  and was constructive with his solutions to a heating installation which the installers were pleased to come back and act on.

I think you'll find that Steven Truss is/was a member on here...  If you do a search you will find that others have recommended him in the past as well.

Hello Pandora, I was given Stevens phone number by one of my friends last year when I was up in the Pleasure Boat for a pint of the the usual you know what. Anyway I found the Insight Marine and went through it...he seems very good and you are right he still doe's the BSS should you need it. He seems to be the one for me but it is good to check what other people think and recommend.

Hello again...On reading your reply again...did you pay the £2.500 or was it the last owner and still get the £5.000 off.

Can wholly recommend Steve Truss, he did our survey and got the seller to fix all the problems he found before we purchased.

He's also a member on here - avatar stevetruss I think

I have to phone the boatyard to-morrow where he will be and ask all the questions...then the he came give the boatyard the answers so they can relay them to me. I want something in writing so it can't be said that it wasn't said if you know hat I mean...Thanks again Craig.

We got £5000 off the asking price, and spent £2500 to get everything sorted, The guy that did ours is called Bill Rosey, nice guy, very helpful.

Hi Gretzky, You seem to have got a good deal which ever way you look at it. Thanks for the name, and will keep him noted...someone around the boatyards will know him and how to contact him should the need arise for me. I am still trying to get hold of this vender, but I am beginning to think I have scared him off with all the things I require to know reference the cruiser. I have contacted the boatyard that seem to be dealing with it...they have said he will be in the yard on such a day...given me phone numbers...left messages...done everything I can to speak to him, but as you can see with no joy. Once Easter is over I will try again, and if nothing happens then I think it willbe time to look for something else. I have had this kind of trouble before...people want to sell you something, but don't want to give you any details about it...never mind all I can do is keep on trying. G

Hello Geoff, Many thanks for the photos of your craft Minstral. Beautiful looking cruiser, and well looked after. I am looking for a cruiser 40ft or over so yours would be to small for me with the things I have to do. I have been let down badly with the Powels42 so am now as for details for a Bourne40. I have a friend with a small family who as mentioned to me that he is thinking about a cruiser so if I had the details about your cruiser I can pass them on to him. You have the experience to know what I require so will not insult you by asking. Hope to hear from you soon...Geoff. Its ok...its my name also.
