Now where was I, now I am back on my PC at home and I can connect once again Smile

Tuesday Day 5. 6/10/20

Ahh yes yesterday we had cruised (chugged) to Salhouse Broad. Unfortunately the skippers manual does not tell me how to get past 1000 RPM!!!! so we will be taking it easy, extra easy!!

We do not mind paying the £10 to moor here as it is an iconic place on the northern rivers, it is just how quick the toll man arrives to collect his fee that is impressive!!
BTW the mooring fee is only valid until 10am the following day, it is not 24 hours!

Just a point here, folks have mentioned the apparent reduction in the numbers of wildfowl on the rivers. Yes, we noticed that too, but not at Salhouse...there were lots of mallards, swans and greylags, but what we have definitely missed this week are moorhens and coots, hardley a siting. There were plenty of cormorants, herons and grebes to be seen and we did have a couple of kingfisher sightings going up to Wayford Bridge Smile

Leaving Salhouse our day was spent idling along the Bure and taking the left up the Ant to Ludham Bridge and after passing under we moored up for a brief vist to the shop. We were caught on video at our mooring by YouTuber "New name Same me". Fame at last!!!

After lunch on board we made our way up past How Hill (we will be back tomorrow for our favourite walk) and continued on past Irstead ( sorry Karen it was all taken) to a lovely late afternoon and night mooring at Barton Turf, very peaceful

Smile

If you get to Salhouse at 10am and pay your £10 mooring fee is it then valid for 24 hours ?

Yes, I would expect that to be the case but we have never done that. We always arrive late afternoon so I could stand to be corrected.
