I was six in 1961, and this was to be our first trip to the Broads. My parents and elder sibling Mike, journeyed down from South Manchester, in what I think was a blue Ford Prefect. I'm not sure from which boat yard the holiday commenced, but I remember the boat vividly, Mazurka, S498, and I have black & white pics that never fail to bring the memories flooding back, and always a tear to my eye. I don't remember too much, although Mike slipping overboard with only his fingertips visible grasping on to the prow will never be forgotten, and also the early morning observation of a large Coypu having breakfast on the bank right next to the boat, as we peeped out through our cabin curtains. Happy days, very happy days. ( I've been back 6 or 7 times since, but you never forget your first time ).

It's true, you never forget your first time. And on the broads as well.  .
Mine was at the age of 8, and I'm still enjoying the broads as much as ever.
