Eastwood Whelpton boatyard is at the end of Upton Dyke. You can see Beluga moored at the village staithe while Pacific Grayling is on the EW side.

May be October or March as in smaller craft but June our boat is 40 foot long so will give it a miss. Backing out of narrow dykes is not for us. Yes in the early days we did it, you all have to learn the hard way. I cannot believe we have been on the Broads for over 30 years now and there are still places we have yet to visit for one reason or another.

Thanks for the comments folks, Tuesday, and left Wroxham at 9.47, a quiet run through Wroxham and Salhouse Broads, and our Coffee stop was at the newly refurbished Cockshoot dyke. Leaving there at 12,we headed off up the River Ant, stopping at Ludham Bridge to have some lunch at the 'Wayfarers Cafe', has this changed hands? certainly a more extensive (expensive!) menu. Leaving Ludham bridge at 2.15, Sutton Staithe was the planned stop for the night, in recent years this had not been possible, it always seemed to be full up by mid afternoon, but today there was room for several boats, and even during the evening there were still spaces. Wandered up to the hotel to see the changes that have been mentioned, and there also seem to be building work going on to the hotel itself. We did eat there that evening, and everything o.k. The entertainment for the evening was the North Walsham scouts who were having a Kayak and Canoe session, and getting very wet! photo is of The Albion that we saw earlier in the week.

Grayling is a lovely boat, very homely, and easy to handle and plenty of space too an excellent choice.

Left Sutton at 9.20, up towards Stalham, those moorings seem to get bigger every year! then down to Barton Turf for a look, pleased to see 'Moorhen 7' looking as if it had recent work moored at Paddys lane. Stopped off at How Hill for a look around, tea room closed, so Coffee on board. Mud weighted in South Walsham Broad, and Lunch on board, had a slow tour of the inner broad, and headed to Womack, thinking that 3.40 would be early enough? looking along all the moored boats there seemed to be a small space near the shop end, certainly not 12', but Grayling is only 9'6" so just fitted, (why is there no one watching when you do a successful stern mooring!) Eating that evening just had to be The Kings Arms, usually busy and it deserves to be. A couple of boats left quite late, and there was still one space at 8p.m.

Oh dear it is now Thursday, and the last full day.leaving Womack at 9.15, lovely sunshine again.Heading for Potter Heigham. Moored up in Herbert Woods, first job re fill with water, had not filled up all the week. Of course a visit to Lathams, and coffee and cake in their coffee shop. noticed that the bridge gauge was showing 6'1". we left at 11.45 intending to shop at Acle for the tide to be right for Gt Yarmouth. The former Horizon craft bank had plenty of room, and no sooner were we tied up when a man from the Broadland Boating co. was asking for £5 mooring fee. but this was reclaimable if we ate at 'Pedros', so we did just that, and were pleasantly surprised. Just had Pizza and Parmesan fries to share, plus drinks. we would go there again. Leaving Acle at 2.22 had the tide with us to Yarmouth, but were a bit too soon, as the water was still ebbing out of the Yare, so a bit of a slow crossing over Breydon water. Arrived at Reedhamat 6.20, had our tea tied up at Sandersons. Back at Pacific yard at 8.15.
