Just back from 2 glorious weeks on the northern and southern broads getting off the beaten track and on it and even better under that darn bridge at potter. Our steed 'Pacific Breeze' that snuck under that bridge with total ease sneaking through at 6ft 2". It's an absolute pleasure to be under there and the peace quiet and sheer beauty of the area is outstanding we often juat stood on the bank just gazing at the star filled sky listing to the orchestra of birds / wildlife sharing the habitate wall to wall stars with that soundtrack is something to behold hard to put into words unless you experience it. The broads themselves are stunning under potter bridge is a whole new world.
We were lucky we got under so easily without issue or concern whilst we waited for the pilot three other hirer's went asked and left dissapointed. Breeze is one of very few boats you can hire you can basically guarantee will get under potter.
Pacific excelled as ever! And by their bookings there picking up a loyal following which is well deserved.
Other observations lots if hirer's with one speed flat out! Charging round like idiots making a hell of a wave no consideration to others. And I'm talking a hell of alot of boats more than ever. The mooring outside the ferry stern on that's mentioned elsewhere which is a compete joke and an accident waiting to happen. The moorings on percys island horning now being £8 per night! And it was full!!
Neatishead dyke full and I mean full 3 boats across!! Never seen that before and i imagine getting out was fun the white horse is certainly gaining popularity. But lovely meal once again.
Nice to see BA dredging the new cut before it got any narrower and lots of work down to beccles so somethings happening.
Otherwise lovely as ever met some great people and enjoyed every second. Can't wait to be back.
That photo of Neatishead staithe is the main reason we go on the Broads out of season. This year we went in May and we're back in 4 weeks time. We never struggle to Moor at our favourite watering holes and rarely get disturbed by engines running at unsocial hours. We go to the broads for the tranquillity and calm so it would be my idea of hell to Moor there and find that when we got back from the pub.
I agree looks pretty horrible, and my kind of nightmare, apparently a party of 5 boats had booked a meal but didnt think about mooring so decided even if there wasnt a space to make some, glad we moored at Paddys lane nice and quiet there

And that in a nutshell is why my favourite thing on the whole Broads is Potter bridge. An excellent piece of well thought out ancient engineering!
we love going under the bridge if we can its magical turning the corner into it nowhere like it when we can get under we spend as many days as we can there before we have to come back . this year when we went for 2 weeks in April nothing was getting under the bridge even though the boat we were in was only 6ft6 we went up 3 times to seeif we could get under but the river was too high. We are back for 3 weeks in October same boat so with any luck we may get under this time it really makes our holiday if we can
Have to totally agree with Hazel it makes our holiday getting under Potter bridge, we hire Pacific Breeze just to defiantly get under the bridge without any concerns, its so very very worth it we had a good few days up there visiting every inch of it. Not much seems to get through anymore. Keeps it quiet if nothing else.
