Just arrived home from a wonderful week on the southern broads , first time for us so very different to the northern rivers , met some lovely people and waved to god knows how many , we moored at reedham and my that was an eye opener , the broads authority guys do such a good job , we watched them cut someones rope , and heard them shout alot , one day we would love our own boat , so learning about tides and mooring in windy conditions was all good drills . Smile

regards maggie

Hi Maggi,
We will be on the southern broads for the first time in 4 weeks (did the northern broads last year) is there any further hints/tips or more detail you can give please? What was the rope cutting thing all about?
Liz

this couple were moored in front of us and her husband went to undo the bow rope so the front would drift out but his wife pulled away so the rope was to tight  Gasp . we just made sure we checked our ropes and put the large fenders bank side as merlin is a wood vessel we didnt take any chances , if you can get under beccles old bridge geldeston is beautful we moored at the lock inn pub , live music food lovely spot and free moorings

Sounds like you need to moor using springs. if you chat to the Ranger he will show you what I mean. It make arriving and leaving much easier.  Smile

I read somewhere that
drinking was
bad for you, so I have
given up Reading.
