Sun 30/12/07

Another great start to the day if somewhat cold in each cabin. Took Dusty dog for a walk to warm both of us up. Fan heater pressed into service in the wheelhouse. Skippers duties once more in the galley, turned out berthing to stern-on due to Staithe getting a bit busy. Departed at around 1100, stopped at ‘That Special Place’ to deposit some flowers on the water then it was off to Gays Staithe and Neatishead, just for a look-see. Spotted another NBF flag this time on Fri 13th. Then to Wayford via Barton turf, no one about but a hire craft at the bridge (H.W’s) that sunken barge is STILL a hazard. Then back to our wet-shed at Stalham. Clean ship and home early as I was under orders to be home Sunday evening.

The weekend afloat was a success, aren’t they all?  Got 6 items crossed off our snagging list but added another five on. Got very very annoyed and disappointed with our damn Mikuni ‘heating’ system.
More in depth description of snagging list and ‘heater’ will be updated on the restoration thread.

Met some new forumites, introduced 2 of my crew to the Broads for the first time.

Now when are we crewed and underway again I wonder??  -  Griff

Nice words Clive, Thank you, along with your photo's and you use them as you please, they are after all yours.

As far as I'm concerned any photo's taken of 'B.A' on the Broads belong to us all anyway. None of us own the Broads, the Broads owns us anoracks!!

And as for 'B.A' we are only looking after her for the next generation. As I have said before, any member of this Forum is welome onboard whenever I'm onboard.

Relaxing onboard, well I do manage a few minutes each day I'm onboard. I will only really be content when I get that damn snagging list sorted and finalised though.

Clive, I will certainly hold you to your photo shoot as long as you are onboard!!  -  Griff

Hi Griff, I think that may have been me as, I believe, I was the only boat alongside at How Hill as you glided past.  I had my Liver and White Springer Spaniel with me and was near my boat at the time.

BA really does look a treat and is a great credit to all of the efforts you and your team have put into her.  I was hoping to see you moored up at some stage over the weekend for a closer look, but you will probably remember that you were underway heading downstream between Ranworth Dam and Beggars Oak when I next saw you, which I think was on Saturday morning.  I'll have to wait till next time now!

Clive, I'm disappointed that I didn't meet you too, but again, there's always next time.  Keep looking out for me!

Pete

Pete - Yep you are correct Sir. In hindsight I should have slotted in behind you, next time I'll make more of an effort  -  Griff

No probs, Griff.  At this time of year it's more important to make best use of the short hours of daylight, and I appreciate that you still had some considerable distance to go, so didn't expect you to stop.  There will be another chance, as you seem as keen to be out there on the broads as I am.

Pity we missed you Griff as I was about in tow with Tuppence ( Leigh and Christina ) all weekend.  We were moored at Fleet Dyke on Sat evening / Sunday morning as Ellaboat came past and I followed Cloud Nine up to Ludham on Sat morning.

Had lunch in the Lion at Thurne on Sunday and boy was ol' Sid busy.  Never seen the pub with so many in it.

Shame the Maltsters was closed on Friday evening.

Was a good weekend and saw some old friends and new ones too.

The new heating worked better this time whilst the engine was running.
Just waiting for the  D1LC heating to arrive so I can get that fitted, so will be even more cosy when moored up.

G.C - You just did and more than just the one which is of course only to be expected from one such as yourself   Evil Grin

Ncsl - we must have been passing each other whilst alongside.

I have been thinking about your 'Free' heating system. I need to have a look-see at your set up.
This is maybe a system that I can install onboard 'B.A'  I'll have another gander at your thread  -  Griff

Hi Glad to hear you had a good time and getting out during the Off season, maybe cold but worth it to enjoy The Broads in winter. We would like to get through to Hickling over the winter but the water has been to high.If any of you have the chance to visit BA you will be amazed at the job they have done.We were lucky to be on the Commissioning day and not only went on board but got to have a spell at the wheel. One of them moments!
(Griff any chance of getting a copy of Meesing about on the river.to add to some video of the day I am trying to put together for you. Wink  LOL

See you down the river,
Roy and Diane
