"...we meet a man who has lived on a boat on the Broads for decades.

George Heather is aged 96. And now the doctor has told him it's time to head for dry land."

In case you're interested

Don't know where he lives I'm afraid - might have been Brundall - but his boat is called Water Gypsy (U533 Craig!!) and is a White/Pink Champagne style of boat if that means anything to you. (Pics of those available at a well-known Broads-boats database near you!!)
Sorry for the late notice! I received an e-mail at around 6.18 and posted at 6.21 which I thought was pretty impressive.  Playful Wink  Gasp

White/Pink Champagne are the Ideal 45's running from Richardsons - haven't got U533 in the database, how confident are you of these details? I don't have any Ideal 45s in private ownership

Hi Craig

I'm 100% sure it's called Water Gypsy and that it's number is U533. I mentioned "White/Pink Champagne Style" as I thought it would be something most folk would recognise. Could have said "Magnifique Style". I'm not very well up on these though - could have been a smaller version (Ideal 40?). If I'd thought I'd have tried to take a pic from the TV - but I didn't, sorry!! But - the programme is available from the Look East website and, if you have Real Player (or RealOne?)try THIS . EDITED 5TH APRIL: SORRY - THE LINK DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK ANY MORE - PROGRAM HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH ONE FROM TODAY.

You'll see a timer above the window showing how far through the program you are. There's a slider below the window and if you drag this to about 25 mins (of the 35 min prog) you should see the article.

Good luck!

Steve

Thanks for that yes I would say an Ideal 40 I have one very similar on the yard. Not sure where it was taped though thought it might be Brundall gardens but don't think so either Brundall itself or possibly Stalham, with some of the shots on Surlinham or Sutton Broads? It seems a shame he's got to leave the boat. I've always thought that as you get less mobile boating is a good way to spend your time because you can get a change of scene in a way you never could stuck in a flat or whatever

I don't do the knots thing, just wait holding ths string till he's sorted himself out Bill...

Cheers Steve/Bill

I'll enter her as an Ideal 40 - didn't manage to watch the program, RealPlayer does like my computer - killed Internet Explorer stone dead Evil Grin  - so it was good for something!
