hi i was watching full metal jacket with my dad last night and was telling me all his stories and friends he had in the armed forces.
i was looking at him while he was telling me about one of his pals in the good old days and was wipeing his eyes he said son look these tears are not because iam sad but because i can still remember the good old days when people realy understood wot it meant to have friends as comrades.

so i was thinking of getting him some songs from his days of the war music like today we have pop but in his day it was real music so i wanted to get him some albums or try and get a track listing of a couple of albums. he has the memory's but not the music so can anybody help !

thank you

Jonny ,
just go into any music shop or WH Smiths etc and ask,
they will have CDs for sale of 40s and 50s music.

Hi Jonny, we are all assuming you mean World War Two, working on the same assumption there are some Amazon links here which will give yousome ideads of the songs. You can often find these or similar albums on the sale racks at CD stores

Vera Lynn

Songs That Won The War

The second link - songs that won the war has not only got some of the popular songs but also some of the famous radio announcements and the music hall comedy acts of the time. A real trip down memory lane for anyone who lived thru that era.
