A friend pointed out to me at the weekend that the current picture being used to show the Barnes Brink of Time class is actually the boat they sold to me in Nov 2004!!! I'm not sure when they added the hoop bar to the front of these boats, but that also dates the picture as being sometime before 2004. Honestly, I haven't sold the boat back to them

I am sure they all do something like this. Herbert Woods use the same picture for three different boats in the Blakes and N B Direct brochures. On the real things thay are the same to look at from the outside but completely different layouts on the inside and are not named as being in the same class so should really have different pictures for each. I know which 3 they are, can everyone else spot them too?

I assume you weren't talking about the mounting for the rear-view mirror on the pulpit, Keith?

The Brink of Times used to have a pulpit when they were first built, but at some time in the past they were removed and replaced with a bar that runs from just above the front cabin windows to somewhere just behind the mudweight, along the centreline of the boat. The picture also shows frames that support the folding windscreen, which had been removed at some stage before I bought mine.

Aah - Yes I know what you mean now. Pulpits seem unpopular these days on the hirefleets, I assume because they look rubbish when bent - which I guess happens regularly...

I would have also thought with the railings like on your boat keith getting under bridges like potter and wroxham would be easier than having the original railings as they always seem to stick out.

James, the lack of pulpit makes getting under a lot easier, and the current bar makes for lining up the centre of the boat with the bridge a lot easier at Wroxham. Potter I don't know because I haven't been brave enough to take it through, always leave that one to the pilot. I think one of the other problems with pulpits, especially on the tidal Southern sections, is that they always seem to get in the way of the front mooring rope. Even if you think you have cleared it, the tide turns and its back in the way again. I guess the answer is to have cleats mounted at the front between the pulpit mountings, rather than at the centre of the bow as most hire boats do.
