Looking through my old brochures, it struck me how many boatyards there used to be at Thorpe. I know where Hearts was of course (hired from there),I know where Jenners & Wards was (opposite the Town House Hotel) & I know where Maidencraft (latterly Kingfishers) was. But tell me whereabouts on the river this little list resided - how did they all fit in?!

Brave Craft Cruiser Co.
Corig Cruiser Co.
Alex Underwood (Cruisers) Ltd
Reliance Boat Co.

(All the above were in Bradbeers 1972 brochure)

Foster Marine
Harmony Boats
Classic Cruisers

(From Hoseasons 1972)

Thorpe was evidently quite a boating epicentre. I don't have a Blakes brochure of the period but I know they had Hearts, Jenners & Wards & possibly others. Today only Highcraft remains!
