Throughout the long cold dark days of winter, a breed of men, strong, with steely eye, laboured relentlessly. With loving care and devotion they toiled for many a long hour to achieve perfection. Not for them the warm fireside, but the cold of the boat shed, the icy wind blowing from the marsh onto a hard standing.

And now, with spring nearly upon us, the fruits of labour can be seen by all. Motor cruisers with gleaming white hulls, varnish lovingly applied – so deep, like gazing into a bottomless pool of water. Engines polished and carefully tuned to perfection.

Soon these men with noble brow, resplendent in their pringle sweaters will take to the water, with skill and chivalry, mindful of the needs and limitations of others, courteous and humble towards their fellows with modesty beyond compare.

These proud craft epitomising all that is good and valued on our treasured waterways.

Stink Boats! Stinkies! Stinkers! What’s all that about! What scurvy knave, what evil force has rotated the truth, in an endeavour to portray their flotsam and jetsam as the
superordinate of all that floats.

Listen up me hearties. We need a name that embodies all that which we stand for, let us show those with parrot droppings on their shoulder our true colours. A name which embraces all that we hold dear and true.
