Hello folks, here is some good news for all you Classic Car & Boat enthusiasts:

______PRESS RELEASE

One of the oldest one-make car clubs in Britain is set to make a splash on the Norfolk Broads in 2007 - Singer National Weekend is one of the highlights in the Club’s calendar of events and between June 15th and 17th next year, the Club will join forces with the Vintage Wooden Boat Association for a truly unique event, at Waveney River Centre near Beccles.

Vintage and classic cars will be exhibited alongside vintage and classic boats and already an impressive line up of entries is gathering.  Cars from the original Singer works teams that raced at Le Mans will be present – the first time that some of the team cars have all been together in more than 70 years!

Other notable entries include the earliest exhibit a 1907 Singer 12hp – one of the oldest Singers in existence, The John Hodge Singer Streamliner that raced so successfully at Brooklands, the only car ever to win an Olympic Gold Medal – the Betty Haig Singer 1 ½ litre Le Mans, Singer motor bikes , bicycles and even a Singer tractor!

But one of the real stars of the show will be Rudi Arrends’s 1935 Singer Commodore speed boat which he will be bringing from his home in Holland and sailing on the River Waveney for the first time!

Up to 100 cars dating from 1907 to 1970 and a flotilla of historic boats many over 50 years old are expected to attend the event – Keels and Wheels and will be open to the public between 10am and 5.00pm on Sunday 17th June 2007.

Waveney River Centre is the Norfolk Broads’ Premiere 4-Star Holiday Park & Marina. Located between Oulton Broad and Beccles, the Centre offers holiday lodges for hire and for sale, a touring & camping site, 140 private & visitor moorings, day cruiser hire, indoor swimming pool, an extensive shop, boatbuilding & servicing facilities and the Waveney Inn public house. Some accommodation may still be available for those wishing to book a holiday or short break over the Keels & Wheels Weekend - check online at www.waveneyrivercentre.co.uk.

Start of the fishing season! Oh well, would have been fun!

Free moorings for all boats over 50 years old?

Psssst, don't let on, but the only remaining keel is still out of the water.

P.S. Great idea.

Don't think James like the word 'free' Roya!

Is Josh over 50 years old yet? Bu%%er, you'll have to pay for mooring, but the Stella is good, so I'm told.

I forgot to mention that the Waveney Stardust team have kindly agreed to provide a Ferry service from Oulton Broad to Waveney RC on the day of the rally, for a small charge. This will probably be quicker and certainly more fun than driving from the Oulton/Lowestoft area.

roya - free moorings? Honestly, you will be wanting free air for breathing next ;-)

All the best
