ok - everyone sing along (now I can't get the d*mned tune out of my head). Anyway we didn't think we would be coming to the UK this year, but we just got a very nice surprise from my Dad, which makes it do-able. Only problem with these trips is we spend so much time driving around seeing family that we never actually get to spend time with them.

I was looking for recommendations for hotels in the wroxham/horning area where we can spend a couple of nights and get to spend some time with family. Somewhere not too grotty, but then again not London prices? - any thoughts or suggestions ?

I am not sure what you have in mind here. Are you planning to stay in a hotel with family members from round the UK as a group?
If this is correct, what about hiring a cottage?

The only hotel I have stayed in round the area in question is The Broads Hotel in Wroxham. It is nothing special, but it was OK.

We've stayed in the Peterfield in Horning several times - not cheap but very comfortable and very nice breakfasts

just going to stay a couple of days before starting the boating holiday, but somewhere that the family can drive to and spend a bit of time with us.

Steve, thanks v. much for the offer, but after travelling for a day or so it's room service time.

Planes, trains, and taxis tend to really take it out of you!

If you're hiring your nosenseofdirectionthingy from NBYCo, then the Petersfield is just across the road, walking distance if you don't have too much luggage!

yep wife and two teeenagers, we'll have luggage. We've pretty much got it down to a science now, but the only problem we have is taking the underground link from Heathrow to liverpool street, there's no room for your bags, even though they have a station at the airport - great planning. On the flip side, once you get on anglia rail (or what ever it's called today) it's a fantastic, comfy ride, plenty of room (shame they've now banned smoking), and then on to the local routes down to the broads. On one ocassion they help the train to wroxham for 5 mins as our london connection was late. When I got to the platform, I asked the conductor if this was the correct train, " yesser, been waitin for you we have, do you mind if we leave now?", you've just got to love norfolk.

Hi Richard,
Glad to know you are visiting again. I can thoroughly reccomend the Wayford Bridge hotel, which is just outside of Stalham on the main road to Wroxham. Always spotless, food to die for.I am sure it has a website, but I`m not sure of its address.

Be sure to keep at least one evening free; I`d love to meet up and shake the hand of the fella who keeps me amused on this forum whilst waiting for the ice to break and go boating again. I might even introduce you to some of our more local brews.

Clive
