Hi everyone, advice needed...

My brother and I (both in our 30's) are on the water from the 23rd this month. I love cruising the Ant but am wondering where to moor for the night. An old favorite was the Woodfarm Inn at Wayford bridge though I believe this is no more. Is it true the pub at Gaye staithe has also gone?

Where shall we stay??? Somewhere livelyish if poss.

Regards

Jim

Hi Jim

You are right, the old Wood Farm is no more. Shame because it was maybe a bit of a holiday camp but it used to be an oasis for real ale. It has been replaced by the Wayford Bridge Hotel which I understand offers very good food but not really a lively place in the sense you mean. The pub (formerly) at Gaye’s Staithe, The Barton Angler is closed (now a private house). The White Horse at Neatishead is a good village pub, pool table etc. It is a bit of a walk from Gaye’s Staithe but worth a visit. Your best bet might be the Sutton Staithe Hotel which I think is a bit more lively on a weekend. Stalham is another possibility, either by mooring there or walk or taxi from Sutton. The High Street pubs are a bit more lively, particularly on an evening.

Cheers

Howard
