Hi
Two local reports from the EDP and from the EEN

There were a few nice old traditional boats in the back of that shed. The owners must be very upset. Given the number of stations involved it was a very serious fire. They did well to stop it spreading.

Hi all,
very sad indeed, at least no one was hurt in the fire, and I hope those twenty cruisers were insured.

All the best Dave & Andrea.

Very good news indeed that no-one was reported injured.

The wet sheds are quite close to the Holiday Chalets, which are all occupied now, with people sound asleep at that time.

The damage to the boats may cause a lot of distress though. When boats are on 'brokerage' they still belong to the owner, and hopefully are still insured by them. “All the boats were burnt out, charred and black and many had sunk and disintegrated.”

I don't recall what the 'small print' said about legal liability when I sold one of mine, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Broker does not have to pay compenstaion.

Hi

At least 13 boats have been totally lost worth at least £100,000.

BBC News Story.

Link to BBC video story removed as no longer available.

It gets even sadder, the BBC link that Fendoff has just posted says that all three wetsheds were on fire.

The private ones had some beautiful Boats in them...

This is very sad indeed. When I had a browse through the shed in April, there were several very fine old classic cruisers and yachts in there, among others. I feel for the owners, I do hope they were all well insured.

Is there any hint yet of how it started?

Danny
