Steve yes I've heard that excuse/justification many times. And not from kids but grown ups ( I use that last term loosely!) It demonstrates selfish attitudes and gets banded about for many scenarios whenever a behaviour of some sort is challenged. Where have we gone wrong!? (answers on a postcard please...) Bring back standards and respect. The trouble is they are able to do exactly what they like. Do you know what is a comfort though, wait until their little ankle biters start doing the same to them in later life, we will see how 'laid back' they are then. Bring back National Service.

What’s “National Service” got to do with it, I never did National Service but I would never think of dancing on a boat roof. I bet that more than 90% of members on here never did National Service, and that doesn’t make them bad people. I put it down to their upbringing, drink, drugs, the media and the internet, probably while they were doing the dancing somebody would be filming them on their phone. That’s only my opinion.

National Service..... I recall a senior army officer commenting a few years back that the army was no place for undisciplined dis respectful yobs i.e. the rejects of society as they needed highly trained, intelligent, dedicated individuals for the army to function. Most people spend more time and energy going around problems than in trying to solve them. Henry Ford

I agree with the last comment Why should our volunteer ,disciplined and highly respected forces have to deal with people who don’t want to be there, don’t want to do as told etc. National service is not the answer In my opinion it starts in the home

Therein lies the problem. You are not allowed to discipline the little darlings these days. National Service never did anyone any harm. I am from a military family and I married a military man. Just because someone has never had any luck in life does not mean to say they will not shape up into being a fantastic person. I guess I am a lot older than some of you.

Flog 'em off cheaply, if you can find a buyer! It doesn't always start at home. I know of young people who have decided to lift themselves out of the gutter and make something of themselves, and by heck, that is just what they have done.

"I agree with you. They need our support." And what form should this "support" take?
