Loved it, thank you. For me that was the heyday of the Broads.

Hi All
Last post totally understood.  It is alright now when you speak to the boaters there, new or old timers everyone seems to enjoy the space.
Kindest regards Marge and Parge

With the utmost respect to everyone, let's hope Ranworth is making a Hay Day for a new generation. As all that visit seem to smile.
Kindest regards Marge and Parge

I suspect that we all tend to regard our earlier times as being our heydays or golden age, we reminisce and view those halcyon days through rose-tinted glasses. But nevertheless, there was an optimism and vibrancy back in the 60's, whether it was in our music and fashions, or in Broads holidays. I consider myself fortunate in having come of age during those years and having lived beside and boated on the Broads. A visit to Ranworth might have involved mooring bow to stern and up to three tiers of boats. We had to climb over each other's boats to reach the shore, now some folk object to mooring alongside each other! The boats were big too, witness the bigguns from Brooms and Woods for example. Perhaps it was more of an adventure, it was certainly more of a holiday atmosphere, back in the 60's.

In even earlier days some wherries had pianos on board and, if we believe the adverts, you could even hire a 'man'!! Not sure why you couldn't hire a woman but things were different back then. The industry has long pushed for progress of one sort or another.

Thanks for that post JR and We can completely agree with it as we listen to Tony Blackburns sounds of the Sixties radio two. Or The Light programme for those that are paying attention, it's at 0600 sat morning if anyone is interested. We have been known to dance but never been caught.  Playful Wink
It just is still a great pleasure to see new kids on the block treating Ranworth and The Broads the way we did.
