Its a bit of organised harmless fun for the kids and their parents, stag/hen parties cause much more disruption I know which I prefer!

This trip is in February so it’s not going to affect many boaters, but if it is successful watch out, how many of these boats have they got, three?
The good thing about these trips is that they pass you and then gone, stag and hen parties tend to stop all night.
The trip boat from Oulton Broad does evening trips, came along one night with a live Jazz band playing.
Bookings being taken for live “Black Lace” theme night, “I am the music man” cruising through Horning.
It’s not fair that you have a these lovely attractions in the north and the southern rivers are so boring with no attractions.
Maybe fair for the tolls budget to be split 60/40 for lower tolls on the southern rivers.

Bella, don't worry! Whilst it just may catch on, in a small way, I suspect that it will prove less popular than the regular disco trips! They have been running for years  and indeed Southern Comfort run them too from Horning.

I don't find a few people enjoying an evening out on a summers evening on the river particularly obtrusive and I would suggest you would be pretty lucky to even catch sight of the pirate one. There is plenty of room for that kind of evening excursion, if it is evening - I have been on several discos and they are good fun with people on the bank joining in the singing and dancing!!

Marshman, I’m ok with it, like you I enjoy entertainment and watching people enjoy themselves.

The obtrusiveness is from the fact the music is so loud that from Horning you can hear them leave Wroxham with a thump thump thump, getting increasingly louder. Till they deafen you as they pass. Then they wander off somewhere down river where it reduces to a thump thump thump.. Then they come back again.
Every night of the week peak season...

The BA's bylaws are there to control noise pollution. Anyone who feels that the noise is offensive should phone up and complain. Pollution is pollution, whether it be noise, light or exhaust for example.

Party Boats are nothing new to the Broads, at least this is in the day time. There have been Nudist nights on board the Southern Comfort, Night sailings with a boat full of naked people drinking with loud music playing, these were still being held just prior to Covid.
The oldest instance of a party boat I remember was back in about 1971/2, I had rented a house opposite Thurne Dyke and had returned from the Pub and set myself up for a nights Bream and Eel fishing, it was a very misty night so the glow from the Tilly lamps was already making for an eerie scene, we had been fishing for an hour or so and I heard distant music, I thought they must have been having a lock in at the pub but the music kept getting louder then there was a dim light downstream from where I was sitting and as the music got louder the light got brighter until it was almost upon me and out of the fog emerged a Large River Cruiser. I'm not sure which one it was but it was the size of Southern Comfort and filled with passengers drinking and Dancing, It sailed past me and must have gone as far as PH and turned round, as it returned some time later.
Obviously there was no internet to discus this and to be honest other than to tell my GF next morning it didn't really register that much with me. I don't know if that was a regular thing in those days or a one off but if that happened now at Midnight the outcry would be louder than the music coming from the boat but I've never heard anyone commenting on it.

if it is to be it is up to me.
