Visit the Carlton Marshes nature reserve for all the flora and fauna you could desire, a brilliant place! The only lights you'll see are the 'lampers' out hunting at nigt!

Illuminated alligators and the likes, I once suggest lighted attractions along the riverbank like Gt Yarmouth's model village. I didn't gain much support, even from the owners of the river trip boats.

Thank god for that.

Personally I want the Broads just as they are. Bewilderwood has everything to hold the imagination of young children. Disney and Thorpe Park are great for amusement rides and piped music coming from every second tree.
The Broads are the Broads anyone wanting alligators should head for the Everglades or one of the above attractions.
Anyone wanting Quiet, birdsong and tranquility unfortunately I think you've missed the boat.

I have to agree with Spiderman.

JR what ever were you thinking.

The Broads Authority, Mr Packman's ambitions, pales into insignificance.

Couldn't possibly be worse than all the security lights etc that line the river banks at Horning & Wroxham for example!

Perhaps all you North Rivers types should enter into the spirit of things and adorn your boats with canons and figureheads etc. A blow-up lady could double up as a bow fend-off.

I've a nasty feeling that thing will be trundelling up and down blasting out Pirates of the Caribbean music over and over and over and over and over and over again..

Seems to be a worldwide problem.
A few years ago wife and I took a holiday in Southern Italy. The "resort" where we were staying must have had an underground speaker system or something because you could simply not escape the cacophony much like Radio 1 on steroids!
Enough was enough, and early one morning we took the bus to a little cove further along the coast. We made ourselves comfortable on the sun loungers provided, adjusted the parasol and prepared for our first peaceful day of the holiday watching the Mediterranean sea lap at the beach.
Within an hour, the "Entertainments Crew" from our "resort" appeared with speakers the size of small vans and set about creating the same noise pollution that had driven us to the beach in the first place.
It seems now that if you want peace and quiet on your holiday, including the Broads, don't forget to pack your ear defenders! Tinhat

He just wants peace and quiet like a lot of us, why is that such a crime.
There are wonderful devices that fit right inside the ear now days that can blast a brain cell to oblivion without hacking off the rest of us.
Nothing better than loud music or Pirates ships come to that just not where people go to enjoy the countryside.

And no I haven't had a charisma bypass.

Believe it or not it was a Saga holiday!!!

The accommodation was totally inappropriate and our complaints fell on deaf ears; anything to do with the persistent loud music perhaps? We shall never take another holiday with Saga despite receiving a dozen phone book sized glossy brochures every month. That is no exaggeration I dread to think what their marketing budget is!
