I was in an A and E holding unit for 24 hours just before Christmas. Spent the night making sure two people with dementia in my cubicle stayed where they were supposed to be . One thought he was in church and the other at a hotel.
Staff only had time to do the essentials and not baby sit.
On the other hand the hospital felt much safer without visitors and all medical procedures eg x rays and scans were queue free .
Think I preferred it on balance but it is a tough call.
