The River Chet is being dredged and the spoils put on the walk way cutting off the Bird Hide.

Perhaps thee spoil is being used to build up the footpath? Inconvenient now but perhaps good for the future. Just hope that the spoil remains on the bank rather than being washed back into the river by the torrential rains and high tides that we are suffering right now.

We have been fighting for over 4 years to get the path along the Chet reinstated & the breach rectified ( at the time NCC were wanting to  permanently  divert the path) the placing of the spoil is part of the scheme and of course was a regular feature of dredging in the past According to a press report a week or so back funding is now finally in place to reinstate the path

Hope that includes the foot bridge replacement along there ??
About time the change back to common sense to make use if the dredging like they use to do  before the EU told them to stop.

My one observation would be, why dredge from on place and loade a barge, then off load that barge onto the bank in a different  place?

Why not dredge and place on the back next to where it comes from rather than do the job twice ?    Wink

Perhaps the spoil is coming from a different place?
silly to dredge one place deep and leave other bits shallow because you don't want to move it.

Please be aware that the dredger barge has now reached the Loddon Basin so pass with care
