After over three years oof getting away without paying the river toll as the BnA claimed it was " fly tipped "
.

So who paid for the removal? Owner? BnA ? Toll payers ?

If the BnA had done their job over three years ago then this not have been necessary and   very little expense to the toll payers.
Again the Authority  shows its self to be not fit for purpose.

I cruise on THE NORFOLK BROAD as I can not cruise on something that is NOT.

ncsl, have you asked the BNA who's footing the bill?

And as always there was the issue of the diesel onboard - a release of diesel in that area was considered inappropriate.

Do the BA keep any significant lifting gear on the Northern Rivers? Its not easy or cheap, to have the appropriate equipment just around the corner everywhere.

What diesel would that have been? It didn't have an engine, did it? The BNA repeatedly said it was fly-tipped, not in the navigation, so it didn't need a toll paying (but it never did have one when it was floating around that area), and removal was the responsibility of the owner or the landowner. Not a cost that should be borne by the toll payer.

I would be quite happy for the BA to charge the toll a/c IF they towed these abandoned boats away to St Olaves and lifted them out,  then chase the owners for the cost if not claimed break them up for scrap leaving them illegally moored for years under the rule that we are not allowed to tow them away is not acceptable in my mind. If the rules so change the rules.  When tow away was introduced for cars some years ago there was suddenly a large reduction in parking on yellow lines. they would only need to tow a couple away before word got out and non payers started to pay or remove there trash from people's sight. This is an area which would need a change in legislation to implement. The Canal & Rivers Trust (with which many make a comparison) has such powers, but, once again, it simply highlights something else in which the Broads Authority has No Authority.
